In 1960, an entrepreneur named Ed King starts an instrumentation business in the basement of his home, calling his new venture King Mechanical Specialty. We are proud of our heritage and continue to uphold the values of quality, integrity, and service that has shaped our success for more than six decades. From Alaska to Australia, our customers span the globe. King Mechanical Specialty is headquartered in southwestern Indiana, centrally located in the USA and serving customers worldwide.

Our Journey Through Time

1960

The Beginning

An entrepreneur named Ed King starts an instrumentation business in the basement of his home, calling his new venture King Mechanical Specialty. Ashcroft becomes the company's first product line.

Early 1970's

First Major Expansion

The growing business moves to a building behind Ed King's house and expands its product lines to include valves, transmitters and pressure instruments.

1981

New Location

King Mechanical Specialty moves to 406 3rd Street in Newburgh, Indiana, where it is still located today. Now in a larger facility, the company adds more products and services, including valve automation and custom-engineered instrumentation panels.

1983

Technical Advancement

Addition of in-house machine shop to facility and UL508A journeyman machinist. This allows the company to produce custom-designed instrumentation panels and expand its capabilities in custom solutions and repairs.

1986

Product Line Expansion

King Mechanical Specialty expands its business to include a line of custom-engineered products, such as air-burst systems and filter skids.

1990

Service Growth

Ed King sells the company to Erv Brendt. King Mechanical Specialty continues to add new products and services, including more sophisticated custom-engineered products and calibration/verification services for pressure instruments.

2004

New Leadership

Steve Yancey, who has worked for King Mechanical Specialty in various capacities for more than 20 years, purchases the company.

2006

Strategic Acquisition

King Mechanical Specialty acquires Righton Instrument Company, a manufacturer of bubbler systems for level and differential measurement.

2007

Facility Enhancement

Addition of a temperature and humidity-controlled calibration laboratory to the facility.

2011

Quality Recognition

King Mechanical Specialty receives ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA).

2024

New Leadership

Michael King takes over leadership of King Mechanical Specialty, continuing the company's legacy of excellence and innovation.
